Food art: Dinosaur Birthday Cake

Vanilla cake, dulce de leche filling with walnuts. Chocolate icing from scratch. Chocolate rocks. Dinosaur-shaped sprinkles. 10inch pan.

I made this for my boyfriend's 20th birthday. Since he was little, he's always liked Dinosaurs, so I made him a surprise dinocake. The cake was decorated with three plastic dinosaurs and two palm trees, with chocolate rocks scattered. I drew the both of us running away from the dinosaurs. The dinosaur sprinkles spell out "HAPPY 20!!" for the visually challenged. Walnuts were added into the dulce-de-leche filling because he loves walnuts. :3

This cake was a big success! It came out very moist and delicious. The icing was made from an old family recipe, and overall the cake wasn't overwhelmingly sweet, which was great. Fed the both of us, his mother and her husband several times, all of his friends, and his father, with extra slices left.

Ceramic: Punyama Punpun teapot WIP pt. 2 (pre-fire glaze)

Part two of Punpun teapot photos!
Punpun succesfuly survived his first round in the kiln. Sometimes, you do something wrong while making something out of clay, and your piece either breaks or explodes in the kiln.
Thankfully I am the claym@ster and Punpun came out from the fires completely flawless. I sanded him down so he is also silkysmooth!

He is currently inside the kiln as we speak, and will be ready to take home by Monday!
These are photos of his pre-fire glazing. The colors are the same as shown, but they will be alot brighter. Punpun will be superyellow.

Ceramic: Punyama Punpun teapot WIP

Currently making my final project in my Ceramics class.
The assignment was to make a functional teapot! The teacher told us to be creative, so I made punpun.
Punpun is a teapot now :3

Asano Inio copy sketches

0.7mm and 0.5mm mechanical pencils, printer paper.
eye-copy from Asano Inio's Oyasumi Punpun.(original)

Many people will tell you that copying is bad. It is. It's really sad when someone takes your artwork and claims it's their own. I'd know, it's happened to me a few times... But I think copying can be good, as long as it's only meant for practice or learning.
There's a certain experience that you get by eye-copying like this. In pencil sketches or when imitation a CG style, I've learned that this is probably THE BEST way to learn an artist's style. Like this, I learned Asano Inio's lines and curves, the way he draws specific things, and the overall process of his art. Asano is my favorite artist and inspiration at the moment, so I was very happy to learn how his art worked.
